What is AMSC?
The Asian Medical Students’ Conference (AMSC) is the flagship event of the Asian Medical Students' Association International (AMSA International) involving the participation of hundreds of medical students annually during the summer. The objective of AMSC is to create a platform for a robust, global network of medical students who, as future medical practitioners, will explore and develop their academic knowledge, cultural appreciation, and interpersonal skills.
This year, AMSC will be held at the International University of Health and Welfare in Japan, from July 21st to 27th, 2024.
This year's conference theme is Disaster Medicine, a topic of paramount importance in light of the escalating frequency and severity of natural disasters, compounded by the ongoing challenges posed by the global COVID-19 pandemic. In recent years, man-made disasters, such as the coup in Myanmar and the Israel-Gaza war, underscore the growing complexity of conflicts and their profound societal implications. These issues transcend national borders, highlighting the urgent need for effective health emergency and disaster crisis management. Leveraging Japan's extensive history in dealing with natural disasters, we aim to offer valuable insights during the conference and foster international collaboration within the Asia- Pacific region.
